You lose weight. Life gets busy. The weight comes back. Do you really need another set of food rules?
I went from 85 kg to 66 kg in five months. This is the story of what I learned about food—and why understanding it mattered beyond the “after” photograph.
My experience, not a promised result for you.

01 / THE CYCLE YOU KNOW
You start again. Follow the plan. See the number come down. Then work, travel or ordinary life interrupts—and you find yourself wondering whether you need to start another diet.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not the only one. I kept looking for instructions too. But a list couldn’t answer every question I had about the food already in my life.
“The trouble was that I kept
stopping at the answer.”— From Chapter 1
02 / WHAT MADE ME START ASKING WHY
I’d noticed darker skin around my neck, darker patches elsewhere and skin tags. The neck bothered me most because I could see it so clearly.
I visited dermatologists. Treatments improved how it looked for a while, but the darkness returned. At the time, all I wanted to know was how to remove it.
Those changes later led me to read about insulin resistance and become curious about what might be happening inside my body. I wasn’t diagnosed with insulin resistance, and the appearance of my skin couldn’t tell me that on its own.
What changed was the question. Instead of only asking how to fix what I could see, I started learning about food, nutrition and metabolic health.
After learning through April and May 2025, I changed my meals in June. Protein became the anchor, I deliberately included dietary fat, and I substantially reduced carbohydrates. Gym training came in July.
That was my approach. Understanding the reasons behind it mattered more than handing someone else the same plate.

03 / TRY A DIFFERENT WAY OF LOOKING
At first, I would have just called this lunch. Now I see questions worth asking. Compare what the photo tells you with what you’d still need to find out.
The name of a dish doesn’t tell you the amount of its protein source. Start with what’s actually on the plate, not just what the meal is called.
The aim isn’t to score this meal good or bad. It’s to understand more of what you’re eating. This is my meal, not your meal plan.

06 / LIFE AFTER THE “AFTER”
By the time I wrote the book in October 2026, I was around 72 kg. Travel, changed routines and less consistency had interrupted some of what I’d been doing.
I hadn’t forgotten everything I’d learned. But knowing something and doing it consistently aren’t the same thing.
That part belongs in the book too. Understanding food doesn’t make life predictable. It gives me something to return to when my routine changes—rather than another temporary plan to start from scratch.

not the formula.”— Robin Roy, Chapter 13
